Jens Karsten, LL.M. studied law at the University of Frankfurt am Main(Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main).

Earned his Master of Laws in European Law (LL.M.) at the University of Nottingham (United Kingdom). Research and teaching at the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre (Brazil) and the College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium). Legal Adviser in the Directorate General for Health and Consumer Protection (DG SANCO) of the European Commission until 2004.

Author of numerous publications on European Law and European Food Law. Jens Karsten is a member of the research team of the Free University of Brussels (Vrije Universiteit Brussel).
