The law relating to consumer goods is a highly complex legal matter that is subject to continuous change. This situation is aggravated by the fact that EU legislation and national legislation do not always go hand-in-hand, in some instances they even compete. The increasing interest of the public – and media – with regard to consumer goods and general conditions of its production makes it indispensable for companies to address and refer to these issues in a confident, systematic and well-planned manner. Companies, managers and employees need to be aware of the ever-increasing rigorous prosecution and sanctioning of legal infringements by the competent investigating authorities.
